Solutions 4 Stress provides instructional skill coaching  courses for teenagers who experience elevated levels of stress.  Stress can be caused by many factors including social anxiety, executive dysfunction, academic expectations, overbooked schedules, need for perfection, a culture of distraction, and highly competitive environments.
Serving Greater Boston, Merrimack Valley, Middlesex, Essex Counties, and Southern new Hampshire.  Located in Andover Massachusetts. 

8 Week Courses function primarily as psycho-educational classes with a focus on Dialectical Behavior Techniques (DBT). Students are taught a variety of evidence based strategies and techniques found to be particularly effective in helping teens manage elevated stress.  In each course students will develop an awareness and acceptance of  stressors and triggers as well as develop effective coping strategies.
  
4 Week Courses provide an opportunity for students to practice learned strategies and review essential skills in order to effectively utilize them in everyday life.  Strategy use should become second nature. Four week courses give a more directed approach to help solidify the skill base.  

Groups are offered on weekday afternoons and early evenings.  Students are placed according to age, gender, and specific reason for referral.  Groups may be either coed or same sex. 

                               



David Hughes LICSW

David has been a licensed, independent clinical social worker for 10 years.  He works full time as a middle school social worker and has a part time private practice in Andover, MA working with teens, young adults, and families.  David has a special interest in using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to treat clients with a variety of mood and anxiety disorders.  In addition, he is currently investigating the positive relationship that nutrition and exercise have on stress reduction, improved mood, attention, physical health and optimal learning.











Helen Fitzgerald MS, CCC-SLP

Helen is a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist.  She is a member of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology (CCC-SLP).  She is accredited by the Massachusettss Professional Licensing Board and holds a teaching license in Communication Disorders from the Massachusetts Department of Education.
Helen has pursued additional training from Michelle Garcia Winner in the growing field of Social Thinking. With this training, Helen has implemented social cognition therapy in individual and group settings.  Helen has worked with adolescents in both public and private school settings, providing services in executive functions, time management, study skills and strategies, self regulation and self advocacy.
